PESo-Mind - mental health research & app

Presenting at SXSW - March 2025

PESoMind (pronounced like piece of mind) began with a simple question: could the parts of dance that helped me through difficult seasons also support other young people?

That question led me to develop a framework combining Physical Activity, Emotional Expression, Social Connection, and Mindfulness. I first shared the idea through an experiential workshop at SXSW EDU before presenting it to psychiatrists, where thoughtful criticism challenged me to strengthen its scientific foundation.

Working alongside clinical mentor Dr. Afshan Khan, I connected the framework to existing literature, leading to publications in Frontiers in Public Health and Health Promotion Practice and presentations at professional conferences. I later translated the framework into JiveToThrive, an app that helps students practice these principles in everyday life. Today, I'm continuing to evaluate its impact through a longitudinal study.
